I walk around this city a lot with my little camera always in my pocket. I see my city of Santa Fe, differently. The artwork and graffiti I find on the street is more exciting than what I currently see inside most of the galleries and museums in town. It's spontaneous and temporary. I try to capture it before it disappears forever.
Lately, I have been leaving the city to explore the natural world...

Anonymous

I have been seeing Anonymous' presence around town lately,
but before I can take a picture and
record my findings, their stickers have been removed.
I found this one on Galisteo and DeVargas, near the skate park.

And this one at the corner of Cerrillos and De Vargas.

Slow

Slow down and look around.
There are many unusual things to see
around the city of Santa Fe.  Like this.
Someone was having fun with road cones.

Love Your Mother

Spring is here in Santa Fe and the trees are all in bloom.  I was taking one of
my walks and looking at the blooming trees, when I spotted
this little piece of guerilla artwork hanging from a branch on Don Gaspar near the Roundhouse.

Walk This Way!

Captured these guys at the intersections of Cerrillos Road and Don Gaspar on the
Paseo de Peralta in Santa Fe.  When you do as much walking as I do around the city you
really have to watch crossing the streets here.  Even when pedestrians have the right of way,
they might end up like one of these little guys stenciled on the cross walk signals.

Hearts and Bones

Stumbled upon this walking down Aztec Street, outside of the old Aztec Café, the other day.
It sucks that the Aztec Café is no longer open.
It was a great place to people watch, lots of off-beat characters hung out there and
paraded through its doors.
I had my first Santa Fe art show there in 2001.

For the month of February, a heart a day until Valentine's Day!!!

Spotted on Galisteo, South Capitol neighborhood.
"Your Spirt is Free"
I think they meant to write spirit, but forgot the extra I.
They must have been in a hurry to crank these babies out.
Notice the U in the flying heart?
That's U.  Your spirit is free and it's also covered
in road dirt.

Art is a Weapon

This person VISI goes around town, probably in the early hours of
the morning and sprays their stencils on to random ugly things, like utility
boxes and big hunks of concrete.  It always gets painted over, but I have been
lucky to document a few of their pieces.  This one was found outside
The Hotel Santa Fe on Manhattan and Guadalupe.

You Are Loved

Dumpster Diver

Someone loves you so much, that they wrote it on this dumpster, but maybe it’s the dumpster that they love.  Or maybe they wrote this on a dumpster, so that when you are feeling down in the dumps as you walk down this lonely Santa Fe side street, you will see this message and know that you are loved.

El Diablo Dimas

I spotted this gem yesterday at the intersection of Galisteo and the P.D.P. (Paseo De Peralta)

Love the looming shadow moving across his face. It makes him look all the more ominous looking.

(added 2/3/2014-Someone cleaned this vandalism up. Washed away the horns and goatee.
The googly eyes are still there though.  I guess peeling them off would have damaged the sign even more.  I am so glad I captured this image before it was cleaned up. This is classic! Vandalism at it's finest.)
